SAIBA actively searches for meaningful relationships with other professional bodies, institutes of education, government bodies and commercial partners. Joint agreements give members access to focused and specialised services, provided by a variety of quality professional bodies and commercial partners.

Department in Social Development (DSD)
SAIBA, the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT) and the DSD recently launched a volunteer project to help Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) become compliant with their financial reports and tax returns. An estimated 80 000 NPOs are non-compliant and will be able to benefit from the www.npoassist.co.zavolunteer project.

During Minister Dlamini’s Social Development Budget Vote speech tabled in Parliament on 4 May 2016, the importance of strengthening partnerships with civil society organisations was once again highlighted. “The NPO Act will be amended this year to ensure that NPOs are better placed to deliver services without any obstacles to the almost 17 million South Africans that depend on social assistance programmes. The National Development Agency (NDA) and Provincial Departments in collaboration with the private sector will embark on intensive capacity building and mentoring for NPOs,” says Minister Dlamini.

The South African Institute for Tax Practitioners (SAIT)
Through our strategic partnership with SAIT, we offer a joint membership scheme between SAIT and SAIBA.

Section 240 of the Tax Administration Laws Amendment Act, 21 of 2012 requires that every person (except certain groups specifically excluded) that either: provides advice to another person with respect to the application of a Tax Act or completes or assists in completing a tax return on behalf of another must register as a tax practitioner with SARS, and a recognised controlling body or a body whose members fall under the jurisdiction of a controlling body.
