Course Accreditation

This course is accredited on the NQF at level 8 with UNISA as the accrediting institution. You will receive a certificate issued by the University once you have successfully completed the course.

The course is developed and presented by UNISA. CIBA provides additional support to students through its e-learning, thereby significantly increasing the pass rate of students.

Who should attend

Professional people who are interested in understanding the legal principles of business rescue.

This includes lawyers, legal advisors, auditors,financial advisors,bank decision-makers, investors, businesspersons,liquidators,managers and trade unions representatives.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should have a relevant Bachelor's degree (B Com or LLB) incorporating a study of company law.

Alternatively, an equivalent South African National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 7 qualification.

A working knowledge of the Companies Act 71 of 2008 will be an advantage.

Course Content

The content is divided into manageable topics. A student number is issued to you by UNISA once the registration and first payment is received. Thereafter you will receive access to your online study room providing access through AcadamyOne to multi-media lectures, quizzes and further study material linked to each topic. The course instructor will provide you with academic support through the online discussion forum for the duration of the course.

Study anywhere and anytime, at your own pace.

Language

Study material will be in English.

Additional Benefits

As an additional benefit, this course will equip CIBA BAP(SA) members to obtain recognition as Business Practitioners in terms of section 138(1) of the Companies Act, 2008. CIBA will be one of only a few professional bodies whose members may perform business rescue work. This course is a prerequisite to be awarded Business Rescue Practitioner status.

UNISA study guides, tutorial letters, and assignments will be made available to you during the course. Students will also receive access to MyUNISA when the formal UNISA registration is completed in February 2017.

Assessment And Award Of The Certificate

Students need to submit an assignment online that will contribute 20% to their final mark not later than 3 April 2017 and write an open book, non-venue based examination.The examination paper will be provided electronically to students on 19 May 2017 who must then submit their answers to the examination 72 hours later on 22 May 2017,also electronically.

There will only be one examination opportunity which will take place on the date provided in tutorial letter 101.

Formative assessment and examination admission will comply with UNISA’s formative assessment rules and policies.
