Yes. CIBA members obtain their CPD hours exclusively from www.saiba.academy. CIBA Academy is the official CIBA CPD platform for CIBA members.

You will have access to your current courses via your previous SAAA login. This login will remain active until 31 Dec 2021 even if you do not register for any further events on SAAA’s platform.

CIBA is a Professional and Examining Body regulated and governed by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). SAAA is contracted by CIBA to produce certain CPD webinars for CIBA. CIBA produces its own CPD or may resell CPD or may ask a 3rd party to produce CPD for us. However, only CIBA may issue CPD points based on the quality of the CPD event. We have to monitor this quality and produce the event ourselves.

Yes. CPD points are only awarded by CIBA. Only events that are presented by us or an accredited training provider qualify to be awarded CPD by us. CIBA Academy is the official CPD provider for CIBA.

CIBA will accept the following in regard with CPD:

1. CPD certificate from a SAQA accredited Professional Body listing awarded and claimable CPD. Claimable CPD is not allowed to be more than 35% of the awarded CPD to accommodate the weighting of competencies.
2. The following from a CIBA Accredited Training Provider (ATP)
   1. Certificate of completion from the accredited ATP. Note that any training provider issuing a certificate of CPD will be disqualified as an accredited Training Provider. CPD certificates can only be issued by SAQA accredited Professional Bodies.
   2. Signed attendance register from the accredited ATP
3. The following from a non-accredited Training Provider
   1. R3,000 per CPD Event payable to CIBA in order for CIBA to investigate the quality of the provider
   2. Certificate of completion. Note that any training provider issuing a certificate of CPD will be disqualified automatically. CPD certificates can only be issued by SAQA accredited Professional Bodies.
   3. Signed attendance register.
   4. Quality Assurance Policy of the Non-Accredited Training Provider.
   5. Proof of competency of the presenters (CV, proof of qualification and proof of experience.)

CIBA is regulated in terms of the Companies Regulations, 2010 and the National Qualifications Framework Act, 67 of 2008. Amendments are done to align CIBA policies with regulations, while looking after members’ needs, career goals and interests.
